How to install e-Signing plug-in in Internet Explorer 7 on Windows XP or Windows Vista?

The Certipost e-Signing service requires some ActiveX controls from Microsoft and Certipost. Those ActiveX controls are signed and trusted, but Internet Explorer 7 has very strict security rules and requires a manual acknowledge of the end user before an ActiveX controls is installed. The installation of these components requires Administrator rights. Please contact your Windows Administrator in case you do not have Administrator privileges. The simplest way to get the install the install the Certipost Tools ActiveX controls is by adding https://connect.e-signing.be as a trusted site for IE7:
  • Open the Internet Options window (to do so, select the Internet Options menu item from the IE7 Tools menu).
  • Open the Security tab and select the Trusted Sites icon.
  • Click the Sites button. The Trusted Sites window will open.
  • In the Add this website to the zone field, enter the address https://connect.e-signing.be and click the button. This should add the address https://connect.e-signing.be to the field.
  • Click the Close button to close the Trusted Sites window.
  • Click the OK button to close the Internet Options window.
The first time when you try to use e-Signing after that, IE7 will not run the ActiveX straight away. It will tell you that it blocked our site from installing an ActiveX control. In order to install it, click the Information Bar and select from the context menu that appears. You will have to do this twice (the Certipost ActiveX Control needs a Microsoft AxtiveX control). From that moment on, you are ready to start e-Signing your documents. The next time you use e-Signing, you do not have to do this installation again.
